The Digital Shift (Digitální směna) program targets single parents who lost income during the pandemic, and who lack the skills and technology necessary to find a remote job suitable for the current dynamic job market. Digital Shift aims to foster motivation around digital tools and teach basic skills to individuals with low digital literacy levels to close the digital gap present in Czechia.
Digital Shift is a 3-month online training available all over the country. Students follow asynchronous videos and are given exercises to be completed to progress through each module. They can also get personalised support from trainers. Additionally, a community approach is adopted, keeping students engaged and motivated throughout the course. Through a dedicated Facebook group, students can discuss issues related to the course and support each other.
The curriculum aligns with three areas of the Digital Competence Framework for Citizens: Information and data literacy, Communication and collaboration, and Digital Content Creation.
Digital Shift ran rom June 2022 to May 2023.
IMPACT OF TRAINING:
- 92 upskilled students
- Improvement of digital competencies by an average of 33%
- The training target needs to be a selected group of individuals with vulnerable backgrounds rather than a combination of a variety of them, as target groups with a variety of vulnerabilities might be challenging to be properly addressed. Focusing on selected groups can provide a more coherent and tailored approach to the training, therefore having a better and more fruitful outcome.
